Once upon a time this blog was called ‘The Many Adventures of Vixen and The Bandit’
Here is the About Us page from way back then…
So, Vixen and the Bandit?
Vixen – The name I used while I was an
Assistant Leader with Girlguiding UK.
The Bandit – My husband ‘stole’ me away from
England, plus he thinks it sounds cool.
My name is Laura, I’m an Assistant Pre-School Teacher, very soon to become Lead Music Teacher, I’m 27, even sooner to become 28 and I’m English, always have been always will.
He is Josh, an associate at Bass Pro Shops, very soon to start school to become a History Teacher, he’s just turned 29 and is
So, how did you two even meet?
I was living a normal life in Essex when one evening my best friend and I were feeling sorry for our single selves so we signed up to Match.com. About a month later I get ‘a wink’ from a handsome, young, US Airman: Josh. We spoke online and on the phone for a few weeks, then we decided to meet up. I took my BFF with me and we met him at Paddington Station in London.
He was not quite what I expected.
I’m not sure what I was expecting to see, but it wasn’t ripped jeans splashed with paint, an old denim jacket with a cotton lining and hood, also ripped and splashed with paint, different sneakers and a skin-tight hair cut. I only had a few seconds to take it all in though before he dipped me for kiss and then nothing else mattered.
We got married 54 weeks later.
We submitted the Visa paperwork and waited. Josh separated from the Air Force and after two years of us flitting back and forth, we decided to each stay in our respective countries, work hard and save money. Well, the working hard happened, but visas are expensive y’all!
For two years we were living 5000 miles and 6 hours apart. It was hard, depressing and ultimately totally worth it.
On March 12th 2013, 219 weeks after getting married, I finally moved in with my husband, the most supportive, generous and caring man I have ever met.
And here is where we are now…
We are both now in our 30’s, I am a stay at home Mum to our two little boys, J2 and J3, and Josh (J1) is a 401K Distribution Specialist.
We have just moved into a two bedroom apartment and are in the process of settling in.
I have been a SAHM for about 9 months now, and I realised a while ago that everything I do is about the boys, whom I love with all my heart, but I was slowly losing myself.
Then I remembered a blog that I started way back when, and knew that now was the time that I really NEEDED to write, it will be a way for me to be me, an online diary / inspiration board / pillow to scream into / weight tracker etc.
For a more complete list of things I’ll be blogging about, check out the ‘What can I expect?‘ page.
